Introduction

This paper is based on the one of the major problem of pollution that is badly effecting the human life cycle. In order to understand the problem, the paper will be analyzed with the help of examples and basis of two types of air and water pollutants and its effects on the environment.

The two types of air pollutant that will be analyzed are Nitrogen dioxide and Carbon monoxide, whereas the two types of water pollutants that will be analyzed are Groundwater and Surface Water.

Air Pollutants

The two analyzed air pollutant that we have taken are Nitrogen dioxide and Carbon monoxide. Now we will see the nature of these pollutant whether primary or secondary pollutants.

Primary pollutant are generated on the daily basis and emitted directly from its source. In this case, both the cases are the primary pollutants as these are emitted directly from the source. Nitrogen dioxides are produces when fuels of cars and trucks are burn, while carbon monoxide results from the combustion of fossil fuels like oil, coal and gases into the air (Gerdes, 2011). Nitrogen monoxide present in the inspired air passes through the alveoli dissolves in the blood as it restricts the oxygen binding to hemoglobin. The organs are then less well oxygenated (Bhargava, 2009).

Air Pollutants Affect and Greenhouse effects

Nitrogen dioxide

Nitrogen dioxide penetrates deep into the respiratory tract. It weakens the pulmonary mucosa against damaging infectious, especially among children. Concentrations normally encountered, nitrogen dioxide causes bronchial hyper-responsiveness in asthma (Kazan, 2004).

Nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere is converted into nitric acid, which is then washed away by precipitation (acid rain) and ground vegetation. This acid contributes, in combination with other pollutants, acidification of natural environments (Miller, 2007).

Nitrogen oxides also contribute to the formation of tropospheric ozone which they are a precursor to the achievement of the stratospheric ozone layer and the greenhouse effect.

Carbon Monoxide

The carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless, flammable, carbon monoxide CO is formed during the incomplete combustion of organic matter (gas, coal, oil or wood fuel). Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless and tasteless, so difficult to detect. It has a density of 0.97 and form with air an explosive mixture and very toxic (Gerdes, 2011). Carbon monoxide (CO) contributes to the mechanisms of formation of tropospheric ozone. In the atmosphere, it turns into carbon dioxide CO2 and contributes to the greenhouse effect.
