Given Bandag Auto's size, and anything else you know about it explain why and how the Human Resource Management function should be reorganized.

According to what I have read Bandag is a family Auto Supply business that was founded by and ran for about 10 years by the father and founder Jim Bandag. The company has five stores and employs 300 hundred people, and their main function is to distribute auto supplies, mufflers, bulbs, engine parts and more.

The Human Resources Management function should be recognized with a variety of activities, and key among them is deciding what staffing needs you have and whether to use independent contractors or hire employees to fill these needs, recruiting and training the best employees, ensuring they are high performers, dealing with performance issues, and ensuring your personnel and management practices conform to various regulations. Activities also include managing your approach to employee benefits and compensation, employee records and personnel policies. (Paauwe, 2009)

The Bandag's organization chart was always quite simple when it was being run by the elder Jim Bandag. He ran the company with a full time controller, managers for each of the five stores, and manager that oversee the distribution division, and Jim Bandag's Executive Assistant.

Based on the little knowledge that I have gained in my Human Resource class. I think the Bandag Auto Company needs to reorganize their way of thinking towards their management functions. The company is not up to date with the current standards and laws. Their employees need to be abreast with the new EEOC rules and laws. Bandag is not cognizant of the rules and regulation of the land and how it operates.

Recommend what Bandag should change/and or improve upon regarding the current HR Systems, forms, and practices of the company now uses.

In my opinion, Bandag should change its current HR system, forms and practice to reflect the current climate of the company now and how it will operate in the future. By doing this the firm's basic strategy for accomplishing its goals and strategy would aggressively control cost, and maximizing return on invested capital and this will promote growth in the company. I think that the Bandag Company should develop a Strategic Plan and Strategic Human Resource Management System which will be useful to focus on three main components. These components will build the HR system. (1) The HR policies and practice (this will teach the company how to recruit, select, and train and reward employees. (2) Employee behaviors and competencies that the company's strategy requires. (3) High Performance work system. By using this process it will show the what direction the company is going and how it will match its internal strengths, weakness, threats and opportunities in order to maintain a competitive advantage.
