In today's world people use cell phones at work places which is sometimes good and sometimes very disruptive. With the help of cell phone friends, family, colleagues all can reach everybody in a second, which becomes very annoying and irritating. It's in individual's hand to keep the cell phone on or off. People cannot put their cell phones off at work places as any one call in case of emergency. There are few rules to follow while using cell phones at work. By following these rules a person can hand cell phones without getting disturb all the time and it won't disturb the work life (McKay, N. D).

Rules of Using Cell Phone at Work

There are top eight rules which every person should follow at their work place to maintain a balance between their personal life and work life. According to recent studies most of the companies have published rules for using cell phone at work which will be discussed later in this paper. It is recommended to all those companies who have not published any rules regarding use of cell phone at work place must publish it soon otherwise in future they will face problems. These rules are given so that a person can avoid using unacceptable use of cell phones at their work places (Kelly services, N. D).

The first rule is that cell phone must be kept on “Vibration”. If the cell phone is provide by the company for business use then only it should be kept on ringing otherwise all employees should kept their cell phone on vibration mode. The reason is not that if ringtones are not good so it irritates others the reason is that even if the ringtone is very good then also co workers and the management gets irritated by continuously or by frequent ringing of phone (Kelly services, N. D).

Second rule is that all unimportant calls must go to voicemail. All employees have their families and want to stay connected with them but they should not connect with them unnecessarily at work time and to avoid distraction they must set them at voice call. In this way employees will not be distracted and they will fulfill their duties and responsibilities properly (Kelly services, N. D).

Third rule is that employees must make calls at private places. Making of call at private places is very important in this way the co-workers do not get distracted. Private areas means that employees while making call must be far from other employees like make call on stairs, outside the office or at places where employees are not present (Kelly services, N. D).

The fourth rule is that employees should not take their cell phones with them in meetings. This rule is very important if someone neglects this rule means their career is at risk.
