A number of studies have verified a significant alteration in ability of a person to carry out everyday jobs that have need of physical handiness, attention, and high level of intellectual process. Tired employees are likely to make mistakes, both mental and physical, and are less motivated and vigilant. They may be willing to take risks. Emotional and physical signs are: sleep against their will (small amounts), irritability, depression, dizziness and loss of appetite Health personnel should influence lifestyle changes, detection of symptoms of stress in pilots and orienting its management and treatment by specialists as required.

Biological Clock

It is an interior system that organizes circadian rhythms of an organism, the sequences of attitude that take place in a day on a regular basis. In living beings, the biological clock is to be found next to the spot in the human brain where the two optic nerves cross each other.

Circadian Rhythm

The circadian rhythm is the internal clock that regulates the cycle of wakefulness and rest of people. This cycle varies between 23 and 25 hours from one person to another, which means that we are sometimes on the sidelines of the 24-hour clock that dictates our work schedule and social life. Daylight often triggers or resets the cycle. History teaches us that humans are active during the day (which is good for security, since we can see what we do). Any disruption to this cycle contributes significantly to fatigue and that is what causes jet lag when we travel from one time zone to another. The cycle is characterized by high levels of vigilance and low: a low vigilance in the middle of the afternoon and lowest in the last hours of darkness (usually between 3 pm and 5 pm). History also shows us that the best time to plan an attack during a battle early in the morning. Indeed, this is the time when levels of alertness and performance of the opponents are the lowest. When workers are at work during low vigilance levels of the cycle, they are more likely to commit errors. According to a study by the Central Flying School Canadian Forces in Australia, the combination of fatigue and circadian period of reduced alertness can cause a reduction in yield up to 35%.
