Introduction

In the active times that we are living now, every company faces challenges that could be better handled if a diverse environmental workplace is put into play. Some issues may arise leaving some of the protagonists defenseless and the majority of the time unable to deal with the daunting situation at hand. Diversity is one of the most useful tools that any company at any point in time could ever possibly used, due to the fact that trends of growth in the population in the US particularly is becoming more diverse than ever. “Diversity in the workplace is about learning from different groups enabling a Company to benefit from the diverse perspectives and achievements.” (Lancaster, 2002, p. 320)

Diversity in workplace is becoming more and more prevalent. The companies in all industries are encouraging minorities, women, older workers and people with disabilities and foreign workers to join white men in workplace. The following analysis will focus on these groups and how companies are being encouraged to participate in workplace in constant expansion. Even if affirmative action is dismantled, diversity of workforce is clearly here to stay. Different Business owners and managers, as said according to experts, still have to maintain or increase efforts to recruit and promote minorities in year 2010 and beyond. That's basically because it has diverse workforce and effectively manage is simply good business for different companies.

Many companies now span globe and / or outsource certain aspects of your day to day business, which makes it important for cultural diversity at top of each list of companies. Although there is no exact definition of cultural diversity, some say that is how people differ as to affect their organizational experience in terms of performance, motivation, communication and inclusion. Therefore, for companies to compete around world have to deal with cultural diversity within their companies.

Generally, a culturally diverse workforce in any industry can bring advantages as various ideas, skills and way of thinking are contributed into the organization. It gives the organization more options on how to solve problems that occur. Think logically, instead of everyone offering the same kind of ideas and general aspects, cultural diversity gives more diverse ideas, different knowledge and experience that help the organization to find good solutions and in less time. Furthermore, an organization that is capable of managing a diverse population of employees is more likely able to attract a diverse range of customers because they will be able to detect the customers' need. For example, an organization in Europe may need Chinese-speaking employees to be able to understand and communicate better with customers who speak Chinese.

Arguably it might be better for the organization to hire a Chinese employee rather than train their employee to learn Chinese language.
