Introduction

Contrary to our preceding convictions, equal twins are not genetically identical. This astonishing finding may be of large implication for study on hereditary infections and for the development of new diagnostic methods. How can it be that one equal twin might evolve Parkinson's infection, for example, but not the other? Until now, the causes have been searched in ecological factors. Comparison of the Identical Twin DNA

Research in 2005 discovered that equal twins disagree in how their genes articulate themselves. Now researchers have wise that all equal twins may really disagree genetically from their partners to some degree. As similar as equal twins often emerge, researchers have long renowned they all disagree rather from their partners. At times such discrepancies are somewhat superficial — for example, equal twins manage not have equal fingerprints. Other times such dissimilarities are tragically conspicuous — one may evolve the fast aging disorder progeria while the other may not. Still, investigators have mostly presumed that equal twins are genetically equal, reasoning that any variations between them were due to solely ecological factors. For example, the fingerprints of equal twins diverge because they each know-how somewhat distinct situation in their distributed time in the womb.

Now researchers find that when it arrives to the genetics of equal twins, suddenly "there in detail are minute dissimilarities and that they are somewhat common," said investigator Jan Dumanski, a molecular geneticist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. (Shinwell, 2007)
