From over ten years, U.S is facing a rigorous scarcity of nurses. The nursing department is lowering down in United State with every ephemeral day. This stumpy ratio of nurses in hospitals has left impediment for the hospital management. The recession which hits in recent past, has forced many retired nurses to join the hospitals yet again. There are still 0.1 m vacancies for nursing that are unfilled in United State. The management of hospitals is doing their level best to diminish this shortage of nursing issue. In this regard, administration has decided to hire foreign nurses in order to fill the unoccupied positions. The recruitment of foreign nurses has some pros and cons. The nurses recruited from overseas market are appropriately trained. These nurses are very fanatical towards work. The problem of nurses in United Stated has been witnessed from the last five decades. The chief reason which has given birth to this dilemma is the recruitment of foreign nurses'. The local women do not give any importance to nursing as a profession because of overseas recruitment. In order to fill the vacancies with nurses' in United State, government and hospital management are hiring overseas nurses. Most of the nurses which are hired in United State are from Philippines'. The hiring of foreign nurses is associated with some pros and cons. Many studies have been conducted on this dilemma, that whether the foreign hiring of nurses in United State is a blessing or a curse. This paper is based on in depth research, of the pros and cons of foreign recruitment of nurses' in United State (Brush, 2004).

This is the statistic of newly licensed registered nurses' In United States. The statistic is from years 1995-2003. In year 1999, the percentage of foreign nurses is 9%, which shows a decreasing trend in years 1996-1998. From year 1998 till 2003, the percentage of foreign nurses' keeps on increasing inclination. Year 2003 shows that the foreign percentage ratio has touched a peak of almost 15%. This statistic shows that the needs of foreign nurses who are educated in United States are escalating after every year. Although the total percentage of nurses hired from overseas market has never exceeded to 5% but, still the problem of nurses in local market is unsettled.
