Introduction

Imprisonment can be considered the final stage of criminal proceedings, starting point of which is a crime and that includes the investigation, detention of suspects, trial and sentencing. Treatment of offenders in the criminal justice system determined the number of prisoners, which in turn has a significant impact on methods of prison management. On the other hand, the criminal justice system is under the influence of public policy and the current political climate, which is largely determined by the society in democratic countries electing government through elections.

Discussion

This survey consists of two sections; first one is the qualitative section that includes variables of Gender, Age, Types of Offense, Facility and Length of sentence, while the second section includes variables that are CJ System, Legal Services, Sentence Satisfaction and Incarceration Services.

In this paper we are performing a two tailed hypothesis test on both the legal services satisfaction and sentence satisfaction variable's data using a 0.05 level of significance. The sample consists of 25 respondents that were interviewed through the survey, survey questionnaire is designed in such a way that we could find out the satisfaction level of the inmates with criminal justice system.

Hypothesis Testing

Inferential statistics is the process of using information from a sample to describe the state of a population. However, it is often use information from a sample to prove a claim or conjecture on the population. The claim or conjecture refers to a hypothesis. The process that confirms whether the information from a sample or refute the claim holds is called hypothesis testing.

Two-tail hypothesis test

The two tail test is a statistical test that is used in inference, in which the statistical hypothesis, (null hypothesis) Ho will be rejected when the test statistic is either sufficiently small or sufficiently large. This differences with one tail test in which only one of the region of rejection sufficiently large" or "sufficiently small" " is initially in accordance with the H1 i.e. alternative hypothesis is chosen, and the hypothesis is rejected only if the test statistic meets this criterion. Alternative names are unilateral and bilateral tests.

Legal Services Satisfaction

Claim: The average level of legal service satisfaction (() of American workers is 5.0

The null hypothesis tested is

H0: ( = 5.0

The alternate hypothesis is

H1: ( ? 5.0

The table below shows the results revealed from the t-test, we have considered the mean satisfaction level of legal services as (=5 at 0.05 level of significance. The results show that the sample mean is 5.232 with deviation 1.015; on the basis of absolute magnitude t-statistic i.e. 1.142 we can reject the null hypothesis as it is less than the magnitude of critical value. The sample does not provide enough evidence to reject the claim that the average level of legal service satisfaction of American workers is 5.
