Why Abortion Should Be Illegal

Introduction

Abortion is the interruption of pregnancy. During a therapeutic abortion, the embryo can be removed or expelled from the uterus, according to the method chosen. There are two types of therapeutic abortion: medical abortion and surgical abortion. During a medical abortion, the pregnancy is interrupted with drugs instead of surgery. This type of abortion can be performed at the early stage of pregnancy - up to seven weeks after the first day of the final period. Surgical abortion is the abortion method most common in Canada and United States and is performed by a doctor in a clinic or hospital. Also, called manual vacuum intrauterine, surgical abortion is to dilate the cervix (opening) of the uterus to gently remove the embryo or fetus and placenta tissue. Women have an abortion during early pregnancy are as likely as other women to have a healthy baby later. Except in rare cases, serious complications, safe and legal abortion does not affect fertility.

Discussion

Abortion violates our fundamental belief which states that the life of the baby should be protected. Human beings are not authorized by God, to take the lives of others without any justified reasons whatsoever. All the major religions of the world including Hinduism, Islam, and Buddhism establish the same stance on the topic and condemn the evils of abortion as a means to rescue oneself from any problem or societal pressure. Critics, however, state that abortion is linked with women's rights and that it is a woman's personal decision whether to give birth to her baby or not. While much debate is raised on this viewpoint, it still remains unjustified to take the life of an innocent baby just for the sake of one's own dignity and other related motives.
