William Beveridge

Introduction

William Henry Beveridge (5 March) was a British economist and social reformer (Margaret Ann Theda 2000 95). He is perhaps best known for his report to the social insurance and related services (known as the Beveridge Report), which served as the basis for prosperity after World War II Labor government in the state, including specifically the National Health Service. Early life and career

During the Second World War Beveridge was involved in the mobilization and management personnel. After the war, he was knighted and made permanent secretary of the Ministry of Food. In he left government service to become director of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Over the next few years he has worked on several commissions and committees on social policy.

Lord Beveridge was so strongly influenced by Fabian socialist society, in particular, Beatrice Potter Webb, with whom he worked on the report of the poor laws; it can easily be considered one of their numbers (Curran Seaton 2003 65). However, he was probably the best economist among them his early work on unemployment, and his massive historical study of prices and wages remains unclear, wills his scholarship. Fabians made him director of the LSE in a position he retained until. His constant competition with Cannan and Robbins, who tried to wrest the LSE from its Fabian roots, is now legendary. Report

Report of the Parliament on Social Insurance and related services was published. He suggested that all people of working age have to pay the weekly national insurance contribution. In turn, the benefits will be paid to people who were sick, unemployed, pensioners and widows. Beveridge argued that this system will provide a minimum subsistence level "below which nobody should fall." Recommended that the government should find ways to combat five "giant evils' needs, disease, ignorance, poverty and idleness. This led to the creation of the modern welfare state (the culmination of the Fabians' project) to the National Health Service (NHS). (Cane Atiyah 2006 331)

The social security system: XI. Medical treatment covering all requirements will be provided for all citizens of the National Health Service is organized by departments of health and post-treatment rehabilitation will be provided for all persons able to profit from them.

One of the most remarkable asset was a convincing argument as Beveridge, who made it so acceptable: Beveridge appealed to conservatives and other doubters, arguing that the welfare agency, he would propose to increase the competitiveness of British industry in the postwar period, not only to shift labor costs such as health and retired from corporate books and at state expense, but also to produce healthier, wealthier and thus more motivated and productive employees who will also serve as an important source of demand for British goods.

Beveridge saw full employment (which he defined as unemployment is not more than 3%), and the core social welfare programs, he expressed in the Beveridge Report, and full employment in a free society expressed how this goal can be obtained ...
