Introduction

Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service also known as the ACAS aims to improve organizations and working life employee through better relationships. The ACAS is Responsible for promoting the improvement of industrial relations, ACAS's role to establish codes of conduct. Violation of these does not in itself legal effect since they do not engage in legal terms; they have only a persuasive value. However, their violation may serve as proof in case of proceedings before an English court of law work. Note that in practice, in some cases, the recommendations of these codes have almost been elevated to the status of legal principle (DIX, 1995).

Grievance and disciplinary procedures are set of frameworks that provide a transparent and a clear structure for dealing with certain difficulties which may rise during the workers. These disputes could either rise among the employees or even the employer's. It is essential to ensure the fact that each and every employee is treated in a fair manner, working under similar circumstances, for ensuring the issues raised among the employees are dealt in a fair and reasonable manner. Along, with that it is essential that in case a dispute rises between the employees they complained made by the employee is in accordance with the legislation and the complaint follow the ACAS code of practice for perfectly handling the grievances and displinary issues of the employees rose inside the organization (ARMSTRONG, 1985).

The ACAS code is designed the help the employers, employees along with their representatives to deal with grievance and disciplinary situations inside the workplace in an effective manner. Disciplinary situations include any sort of misconduct inside the organization by the employee. In organizations where the employees have separate capability procedure, then under such circumstances the employee may prefer to address the issues related to their performance according to that procedure. However, the basic principles of fairness that are set out for this code should be followed strictly while addressing such cases. Whereas, on the other hand grievances are the complaints, problems, or concerns that are being raised by the employees alongside their employers (WEISS, 2005).

The ACAS Code of Practice on Discipline and Grievance has been immensely helpful for managers and employees to solve their displinary and grievance issues at the workplace. It is essential that the mangers carry out all the necessary investigation regarding potential displinary matter without any delay in the proceedings for the establishment of facts in the case.
