Introduction

Today, African Americans represent 13.3% of the U.S. population; it is the largest minority after Hispanics. In recent decades, Blacks have made ??great progress and the African American middle class has greatly developed. The average income of blacks is still lower than that of whites and unemployment rate for blacks - particularly which of young men remains higher than that of whites. In many large urban areas, African Americans are now in the majority within the cities.

African American Men Incarceration

A recent study by the Institute of Police and Justice, a research and action based in Washington, there were 791,600 blacks in prison in 2010, against 603,032 in universities. A considerable decline compared to 1980, according to the institute, they were then in prison and 143,000. The prison population rose last year in the United States some 2.3 million people on an adult population of 230 million people, or the highest rate in U.S. history, according to the Pew Center. The statistics are particularly striking among minorities: while an adult white American of 106 is incarcerated, it's a 36 on Hispanic and African-American of 15 who are in prison.

In the age group 20 to 29 years is a young Black man who is nine behind bars (Camp, n.d.). While men are ten times more likely to be imprisoned than women, the female prison population "is progressing in a very fast," the Pew report. A tightening of the law, including measures increasing significantly the length of incarceration for repeat offenses, blew the prison population, more than a rise in crime, the report said. 20% of African Americans born between 1965 and 1969 have been in prison, against only 3% of whites born in the same period (Schaefer, 2006). 

Ethnic groups are more often targeted the United States. A report released by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in October 2005, the 9528 hate crimes in 2004, 53.8% were racially motivated and 67.9% were committed against black people. In 60.6% of cases of racial crimes, the criminals were white. Statistics show that blacks are 20 times more likely to be victims of racial crimes than whites. In Los Angeles, 56% of hate crimes are directed against blacks. More than 80,000 African Americans each year meurrent lack health insurance and mortality in blacks than forty years is twice as large as that of the same age group among whites. 19.7% of blacks are not covered by any insurance and the rate is 32.7% for Hispanics. One in three Hispanic is not assured in the United States (Schaefer, 2006).  

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Labor, in November 2005, the unemployment rate for blacks was 10% against 4, 3% among whites. Income of black men accounted for 70% of that of whites and that black women, 83% that of white. Ethnic groups are often absent from the high technology sector. According to a report cited by the U.S. Commission for equal opportunities in employment, the rate racial of discrimination in employment was 31% in Asia and 26% in Latin America (Schaefer, ...
