Nasopharyngitis (commonly known as the common cold) is a common and usually benign infection of the upper respiratory tract (nasal cavity and pharynx) by a virus, mainly Picornaviridae (including rhinoviruses) or corona viruses.

The symptoms of the common cold mainly manifest as rhinitis (sneezing, coughing, congestion and runny nose of mucus), pharyngitis, and conjunctivitis, of myalgia, the tiredness, the headache, or the fever and loss of appetite. It is the most common respiratory infection in young children. The resulting cost is very important, which is more than $20 billion per year in the United States.
