Introduction

Employee training holds a pivotal role for the continuous success of the organization. It helps the employees for skill and competencies development required for the improvement of bottom-line results for the organization. Employee training has key importance for the performance improvement. The identification of the training needs is the first step for the program development of employee training. The training requirement is basically based on the objectives of the strategic objectives. The required skills are identified and then the employees are trained accordingly to meet the organizational objectives. Basically, employee training and development is a continuous process within the organization. Nowadays, it is more important to provide the new employees with the training before being inducted in the organization. It is important that the employees must be aligned with the interests and goals of the organization (Carsen, 2005).

Training needs evolvement

Due to globalization and the changes made in people communicate and contact each other, the training and development process has been affected as well. Local employees go abroad to serve whereas foreigners enter the home country and serve. Employees and managers are being sent outside America for the training and development purposes. This helps the employees become comfortable and easily work in foreign locations. The employees and their families are facilitated by cross-cultural training because they become aware related to foreign assignments. The employees learn the culture and norms of the country being targeted. Since globalization and immigration has become so common, the training related to other countries' cultures. After 9/11, the American employees are threatened with terrorist attacks which make their safety hazardous while working in foreign countries. The security concerns have become graver which have made foreign assignments more risky (Noe, 2010).

With increase diversity in the workforce, the management is challenges to manage a diversified workforce with different skills and performance levels. The management aims to retain the talented employees through opportunities of training and development. Competitive advantage can be gained through increased diversified workforce. With the passage of time, the way business operates themselves evolutes and change. The change is positive and growing where the businesses become more competitive, and challenging within the global village. To make the employees of the business competitive and updated, continuous raining is required to keep the minds of the employees fresh and updated. Even the new employees are trained when they are oriented in the organization. Employee trainings are also provided with the market demand and when the human resource management professionals require that the employees must be given training and development (Pride and et al, 2011).

Technology has changed the way organizations operate, communicate, plan, work and forecast.
