Introduction

The novel “Frankenstein” has been written by Mary Shelly which is considered as more than the regular novel. This book encompasses profound and thoughtful philosophical messages. This book is related to the tragedy or misfortune of a scientist and it is not related to the struggle against a monster (Allingham, 2003). The profound and thoughtful philosophy of the novel reflects that the life is a gift for human. When this gift has been given to any one then there is no one who is capable of taking it away except the creator. The novel “Frankenstein” is concerning about the question “is a human being capable of taking the accountability to give life”. Thus, the novel has concerned about very deep and profound thought (Allingham, 2003).

Discussion and Analysis

In Frankenstein, there are two main characters. These two main characters include the creation of Victor Frankenstein and Victor Frankenstein himself. Both of the characters had most opposite and contradictory beginnings. Victor Frankenstein too birth in an upper-middle class family in Geneva. Victor Frankenstein considered his childhood as the most happiest and joyful childhood. According to Victor Frankenstein, his parents were possessed with extreme spirit of indulgence and kindness (McGlinn & McGlinn, 2009).

The philosophy of Frankenstein is highlighting the conflict between the value of a scientific discovery and the value of a human life. The story of the novel not only reflects the tragedy of Victor Frankenstein but it also reflects the tragedy of his creation. The novel is reflecting the tragedy of isolation and fighting alone with the whole world (McGlinn & McGlinn, 2009). The Victor Frankenstein's tragedy was that he was being a toy in the hands of his parents. Victor Frankenstein used to think that he was in the hands of his parents and they direct him to misery or happiness. This feeling of Victor Frankenstein led him to the wish of having someone who could be controlled by him. This feeling led him to have another enjoyment and another toy but he was not capable of taking accountability for the creature he brought to life as this was not just a toy rather it was a living being (McGlinn & McGlinn, 2009). Childhood of Victor Frankenstein was perfect. However, his parents forgot to teach their child about mortality, about what is wrong or rights and other important categories.

Mary Shelley expressed through the novel that the parents of Victor Frankenstein did not brought up their child properly. Mother of Victor Frankenstein brought Elizabeth as a pretty present. This present or event made Victor Frankenstein think that human being can be taken as a property (McGlinn & McGlinn, 2009). Victor Frankenstein considered Elizabeth as his property to be loved, cherished and protected and after that moment Elizabeth turned to be al life toy for Victor Frankenstein.
