Introduction

In order to grow and make profits, business organizations requires structure. The term organization means a structure, the unit of something. In management it is a concept commonly used to refer to a collection of people, groups, united to achieve any goal using the principles of division of labor, division of labor and on the basis of a specific structure. The organization is the unity of the state and the process, since it provides stable organizational solutions, but is itself a relatively stable as a result of continuous development of internal and external environments of the firm. The concept of structure refers to the location and connection of components of something, structure (Likert, 1987, 51). In management theory phrase organizational structure is often used to refer to the internal structure of organizations, the aggregate relationships between units and members of organizations, social communities. Structure is one of the most important components of the system, which in turn is different from the structure of the presence of the target orientation and gives the system a certain direction. The organizational structure defines the hierarchy of organization of departments and people and how information flows within the organization. It also determines when and how information is distributed and what and who make decisions based on informational available.

Organizing and designing a structure helps top management to identify talent that needs to be included in the organization. Structural planning makes sure that there are enough human resources in the organization to achieve objectives and goals of the company set forth by annual plan of the organization. It defines clear responsibilities which can be seen by job description that outline duties of an employee and each job occupies it own position on organizational chart. Therefore to establish high performing organizations, an organizational architecture must be designed by mangers that maximized the efficient use of resources in order to effectively and efficiently produce goods and services according to the wants of the consumers (Miles, 2011, 78). In this paper we are going to examine possibilities important in explaining organization of Malaysian University. We shall use job characteristic model to motivate job of typical employee within the organization. Enrichment and enlargement along with organizational structure of the University will deeply be discussed. The purpose of this paper is to let readers know about the importance of organizational structure in an organization and managers will get efficient information from how Malaysian university has organized itself to attain its objectives.

A: University of Malaya will be used an organizational example in this research. University of Malaya is out of the top 10 universities in Malaysia. It is a public research university situated in Kuala Lampur Malaysia. It is one of the oldest universities in the country. UM was established in 1949, as public funded tertiary institution.
