Summary

Management of resorts is one of the major functions that any tour management company needs to do. As an experienced tour liaison officer and operator, this report is written to present to the reader an idea about the management of resort and resort operations in the tourist city of Antalya. The report is presented on the behalf of Thomas Cook Travel Agency that is one of the most renowned travel and tour agencies of the world. The report is based on the management of the resort operations in the city of Antalya in Turkey, as well as, in Greece that is one of the most toured sites of the world with a large number of annual tourists turning up in the city for recreation. The report will provide an overview of the basic functions of the Thomas Cook Travel agency, a brief account of the city of Antalya, as well as, in Greece the quality measures that the company takes to make sure that the customers have the best experiences in the city of Antalya and Greece, as well as, an account of the issues that might arise due to certain incidents that how they can be managed by the management along with the role of the tour operators in the management.

About Antalya

Antalya is a major tourist town south of Turkey in the prefecture of the province of the same name. It has an international airport, the Antalya Airport. Antalya today is the tourist capital of the coast Mediterranean Turkish, nicknamed the "Turkish Riviera"; it can even be considered one of the most popular resorts in the world. The old town of Antalya, Kaleici, lengthens the side of a steep cliff below which nestles a former port, now modern marina. Antalya population amounts to 798,507 inhabitants in 2008. Antalya was the third most visited city in the world, with 10.5 million visitors annually. Antalya has a Mediterranean climate . Winters are mild and rainy while summers are hot and dry. There are approximately 300 days per year with the sun. The temperature can climb into the day until 45°C in July-August but it does not usually exceed 30° C . The sea breeze and the wind blowing northwest inland make the summer heat more bearable. As for the sea temperature oscillates between 15° C in winter and 28°C in Summer. As a resort-tour operator liaison person, this report will be presenting the operations of Thomas Cook Travel Agency for planning holidays in this Mediterranean city of Turkey.
