Introduction

The Fugitive is a 1993 Hollywood film based on a television series from the 1960s. On 6th August 1993, the film premiered through the theatres in the United States and was the number one film for six consecutive weeks. Shot on a low production budget of just 44 million dollars the film made an astounding success and raked in $368,875,760. The protagonist, Harrison Ford, plays the protagonist, a surgeon who is accidentally convicted for murdering his wife, played by Sela Ward (Fugitive & Davis et al., 2014). The case is led by Deputy Samuel Gerard, which is played by Tommy Lee Jones, for which he received an Oscar for best supporting actor. The film is directed by Andrew Davis who is know for producing and directing big budget Hollywood films such as Under Siege(1992), Above the Law(1998) and many more films that have been remarkably successful. The fugitive too was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Some other notable actors in the film were, Julianne Moore, Joe Pantoliano and Andreas Katsulas (Commonsensemedia.org, 2014).

Harrison Ford was not the first choice for the protagonist; many other actors were offered the roles such as Alec Baldwin. The other roles in the film too had a lot of shortlisted candidates.

The film is classified as thriller-action. Through out the movie the viewer travels alongside the protagonist, from the murder in the beginning to the final arrest.
