The book 1776 is the creation of David McCullough. It was published on May 24, 2005. This master piece is based on the early events that caused the American Revolution. He brilliantly covered the pre revolution history in the 386 pages of the book. 1776 is the most decisive year in the history of American as it brought the revolution in America. McCullough wrote this book by using the personal letters, original sources, and extensive research on archives and historical societies of America as well as British. He took us back to the historical time of 1776 where there were sacrifices, struggles and hardships of the people. He drew the attention of reader in to the turbulent and chaotic events of the 1776, the most pivotal year in the American history. He is the most talented narrator of the history and he has also won the Pulitzer Prize for his master piece work. McCullough is well known for his narrative skills and the engaging writing which keeps the interest of the reader throughout the end of the story. Summary of the Book 1776

This book covers a series of various events that taken place during the year 1776 from the announcement of war by the King George till the tremendous victory of America. During that time, George Washington led the American Army, his force was inexperienced and untrained. While, on the other hand, the British Redcoats were fully armed, experienced and equipped with the armors. British Force was commanded by William Howe. British wanted to rule over the various colonies of America by winning them. In the first battle on the Bunker Hill, Americans were defeated by British. After that, Americans made a surprise attempt to attack on Boston. In this attack, British surrendered and went back to England, but this victory did not last longer as this time British came back with the larger army to fight with the Americans. During this battle, Americans lost Boston easily and retreated to New York after meeting the defeat. British wanted Americans to loss their precious territories and move back to New Jersey. British had a powerful force along with the navy force that controlled the seas with the powerful ships. They had many soldiers nearly doubled from that of American Army who defeated Americans again and won Brooklyn, Fort Washington and New Jersey. They made it possible to win the various American territories with their powerful force.
