Socio-Psychological Impact of Leaving Home for Studies

Socio-Psychological Impact of Leaving Home for Studies

Introduction

When People think drastic changes timely in children lives, then they normally think about the first two to three years of their lives. There are lots of development and social changes in children which occur at the stage 6 to 18 (Bee, H. & Boyd, D., 2008). These changes are dramatic as well and, if we take an example of six years old girl then, she may wear cute uniform and, feels excitement to go to the school. Parents may control of her going and comings from the school and, to the school (Boyd D, Bee H, 2012). They seem worried of crossing road after school and, think her safety all the time. Imagine the same girl at the age of 14 when she is in 9th grade. She is presenting herself as the grown woman, asking her parents not to worry much about her safety, falling in love and having premature sexual relationships and, there are more risks of physical harm when she is away from home (Bee, H. & Boyd, D., 2008).

Discussion

At the age of 18, when the same girl tends to leave home and going to the university then, there are different psychological and social changes that, impacts her (Berk, I. E., 2005). At the age of 14, most girls and boys tend to change the school at least one time by moving from the junior high school or middle school (Boyd D, Bee H, 2012). Girl is looking forward to take her classes and, she also changes her psychological thinking on formal schooling. She may face different activities in her school life and, all certain activities in schools such as sports and other extracurricular activities help the girl to grow at the stage of maturity (Berk, I. E., 2005). At the age of 18, the girl is more mature about her university, looking forward to take her classes with different perspectives.

There are different factors which put impact on the mind of the teenager leaving home for university such as relationship between family members, friends and other psychological and social impacts. These relationships are the area of wider research on the mind of teenager (18 years old), going to the university and leaving home (Berk, I. E., 2005).

The poverty is not only the reason in the child development but, social disadvantage stops the individuals and families in participation in society. When parents are not paying attention at the age of 6 to the child then, child will not feel security at the early stage and, brought up in a poor ...
