The book under review is “A remembrance of Eden” by Margaret Jones Bolsterli. The book provides life of the rural Arkansas and of the plantation life before and after Civil War.

Bolsterli recounts the memoir as a significant new source for social historians; but while pleasing and readable, as the title itself proposes, the memoir is the nostalgic ruminations of an eighty-year-old woman, in writing more than fifty years after the close of the Civil War.
