AACN Synergy Care Model

The AACN Synergy Model as emerged as the acknowledged criteria of conceptual outline for critical and acute care in nursing field. It is based on years of experimental work done by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. It comprises of the historical development of the characters of nurses and patients that inherit in the Synergy model and it also addresses the characteristics of the individual patients and the skills and competencies of the nurse represented in the Synergy Model.

The ACCN Synergy model delivers a patient care scenario which identifies the relationship between the patient's characteristics and nurses' competencies as extremely important for getting high quality results. With the addition of spiritual context as an important aspect, the model makes the nursing model particularly a helpful guiding model for providing complete care to the patients.

Historical Evolution:

In early 1990's , the founders of ACCN moved on with a journey in order to describe a new model for providing guidance for the nursing practice and gradually it will provide a certificate for the critical care nursing. The project was led by Dr Martha A. Curley and built a framework which will generate the value of nursing practices and move them away from the task-oriented one to the recognize the important relationship between the patients and the nurses.
