Introduction

A war is a conflict between multiple groups of people. They could be fighting over land, beliefs or a woman. Wars can be fought for a day or centuries. People lose their lives and loved ones constantly. Nothing good comes from war, yet it is necessary for war to exist. A necessity is an object or goal that that is needed by a person or multiple people. The Trojan War brought out the best in many men and women, yet it also brought out the worst in them. The Trojan War caused Achilles to fight and die to become the hero in history that he has become. Many of the warriors knew it was necessary to fight, that is way they always fought to their deaths with honor. When a war is local it affects everyone, as it affected the Trojans.

War consists of multiple nations fighting for their own cause or beliefs. A nation consists of a mass of people living under the same government and having similar beliefs. A nation often fights wars to conquer land, for economic reasons or religious beliefs. A nation leads, funds, and administrates the war. The country controls whether the war ends or continues. Paris of the Trojans ran off with Helen, Menelaus' wife, causing the Trojan War to begin. The Achaean nation was fighting in place of Menelaus and the Trojan army acted for Paris. Both nations risked the lives of their citizens to fight this simple conflict. The nation made the decision for its peoples to fight and die for their nation.
