Introduction

Accounting information system is a system for recording and monitoring data using software. It can be handled manually. Computerized software make task easier and smooth accounting job through use of software which can organize all financial data, tax and payroll data. It can also perform other functions such as book keeping and recording of entries. The system compiles and delivers the processes transaction data. Then it distributes financial information to management and company stakeholders for decision making.

Accounting information system advantages over managing financial information are definitely immense, yet there are also some drawbacks linked to it such as lost of important information if it is attacked by computer viruses. Various computer fraud and computer crime through computerized accounting information system is weakening AIS credibility. It is not limited to only internal sources such as expense manipulation; change the computerized AIS, asset theft, perquisites and so on, but also attack through external sources such as spam, hacking, identity fraud and spam etc.

How AIS attacks can occur or contribute to losses

AIS attacks can be occur through external sources through the net. Spam is one of the examples of which damage occurs and it causes an impact on their reputations. A person receiving email may be tricked by the technique, creator spam send viruses on their email messages through the servers of well-known organization. Another example is phishing and identity fraud. Phishing is making users to scroll towards fraudulent websites and left with personal details through some techniques.
