ACHIEVING MY PROFESSIONAL GOALS

Achieving my Professional Goals

Achieving my Professional Goals

Introduction

Goals are the end toward which effort is directed (Merriam-Webster Dictionary, 2008). Goals are subjective, differing from person to person. Some people put all there efforts into obtaining professional goals, others choose to put all their effort towards their personal goals; neither of which I believe end with positive results. I believe there need's to be a balance between business and a persons personal life. This would make my ultimate goal possible and that is to be happy. (Bass 2000)

When discussing goals people have to keep in mind a persons support system, resources available to them, their work ethics and what is needed for them to achieve the goals that are set. While one may be able to fulfill his or her goals without one or more of these things, adversities can deter many from obtaining their goals. Support and understanding from my family and friends would be a significant tool in helping me achieve my goals. It may also be useful to have mentors help to guide me along my chosen path to success. Financial assistance will also be needed to continue on with my learning process and to support my son and I.

Actually, the leader emerges as a consequence of the needs of a group of people and of the nature of the situation within which that group is attempting to operate. Another way of considering the problem of defining leadership is in terms of group goals. It can be said that the leader is the individual who is able to lead the group toward its goals.

What makes a person a leader? How do we acquire such traits? Leadership is the ability of one person to control and exert influence over many. There is a clear distinction between someone who possesses the ability to lead and someone who does not. Throughout human history able leaders have aroused millions of people and brought them under their control yet, the origins of this gift are still ...
