Introduction

Spencer Johnson, an American writer and psychologist wrote the article “Who Moved My Cheese”, which has been a bestseller worldwide. It is a self-help book which is a written as a guide in the form of a story with two mice as protagonists; its purpose is to assist people when the reality of life gives an unexpected turn and dealing with it is a task almost impossible because fear is our biggest enemy which prevents us from exploring unknown paths. Adapting to change also has a business focus and works more than that of human relationships, but could serve to both. When your company is sinking because it has adapted, or your job is threatened because everything around you is moving too fast, it is then that one has to adapt to the situation according to the needs and requirements in order to move along with the pace of the present. One of the friends named Michael starts telling a story which he thinks might help. This is the story of two mice, Hem and Haw, who lived very happily with a batch of cheese, had a routine life, every day they got up and went to the warehouse to find their food. But the cheese was decreasing every day. There was less and less cheese everyday but they did not care, that did not change their habits, and thought that there will be more later. But no, the cheese kept on decreasing until the store was empty. Hem and Haw did not know what to do, they returned to the store every day but found nothing and returned empty handed. So they took a decision to find cheese elsewhere, but as they did not know anything else to do so this fear prevented them from acting. Haw decided to leave and explore new galleries but Hem had no courage. His fear did not let him think and made him wait patiently for the cheese to come again on its own.
