Introduction

In this study, we try to analyse the article “Adolescence in America: From Idea to Social fact” by David Bakan in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on adolescence that the invention or discovery of adolescence in America was largely in response to the social changes that accompanied America's development in the latter half of the nineteenth and the early twentieth century. The research also analyzes numerous aspects of civil war and tries to gauge its effect on society.

Analysis

This age begins at age 14 until about 21 years where he will start at the age of adulthood is the longest. Adolescence is a period of change between puberty and adulthood. The teenager is sexually developed, but lacks the necessary experience and emotional maturity to deal with equity all the problems that characterize adulthood. Consequently many teenagers find it difficult and easily fall into depressive attitudes because of some situations. This is due to over activity of the sebaceous glands caused by the imbalance of sex hormones and growth in the bloodstream. Glandular infection determines the appearance of pimples or abscesses.

The Idea of Adolescence

Adolescence is the time between childhood and adulthood. Derived from the Latin word "adolescent 'which means to grow to maturity, covers, in regard to Western society, the age ranging from 12 to 13 years to 21 years (Kitwana 2002, p. 32 ). Their initiation is preceded by the `pubescence, a stage of rapid development during which physiological maturation begins reproductive and sexual organs are primary and secondary sex characteristics. The pubescence takes about 2 years and ends with puberty. The end of adolescence is not easy to determine, is composed of a combination of physical, intellectual, sociological, legal and psychological.

Physical factors are typically identified with the full sexual development. The cognitive maturity is reached when the person masters conceptual thinking, or what Piaget calls "formal operations", from the sociological point of view had been reached adulthood when a person is married and started a family or is able to sustain itself, the legal adult age is reached when you get the right to vote, you can marry without parental consent or when you have the authority to sign legal contracts (Kindlon 2001, p. 32).
