Literature Review

Addict is a person who has almost everything in life due to addiction to drugs and other substances. Addicts are also the people who either drink every day, or are not only those who use cocaine every day, but also those who oscillate between alcohol, pills, cocaine, marijuana, tranquilizers, ecstasy and numerous other drugs (Liddle, 2006).

Addiction is mental disease that tries to convince the addicted person that he/she needs alcohol and drugs to stay alive. In spite of the negative effects majority of the people are still addicted to these substances (Goplerud, 1991). For this reason, addiction is one of the most annihilative illnesses harassing our society. Addicts cannot see it as they lose control over and addiction highly effect the human thought processes, and therefore even addiction continues to cause behavioral destructions to the humans (Nutt, 2007).

In spite of the trips to emergency department for alcohol poisoning, ramifications from drug overdoses, multiple drug interactions and alcohol and drug related accidents; addicts will continue their maltreat because as they remain unaware, addiction has already taken hold. In numerous social circles, alcohol and substance abuse are not only satisfactory, but encouraged, giving addiction a huge window of opportunity (Robertson, 2003).
