Introduction

“An anthropologist on Mars” is a book written by a neurologist Oliver Sacks that disc uses seven different tales including the cases of different neurological disorders like autism and Tourette syndrome. The book enables people to understand the concept of various neurological disorders and the methods and behaviors that could convert these disorders into positive abilities of individuals. This paper will focus on discussing two people identified in this book that changed my perspective of looking at patients with neurological disorders.

Discussion

The tales presented in the book “An anthropologist on Mars” by Oliver Sacks plays a vital role in changing the perspective of viewing the neurological disorders.

The first personality that is important to be discussed is Temple Grandin. The works of Temple Grandin for the welfare of animals is very important and contributes towards her intellectual fame. Temple Grandin continued to explain that autism involves the difficulties in communication, cognitive activities and imagination. It has been observed by her personality that she was completely useless in foreign languages and algebra, but she emerged to develop her skills towards the welfare of animals. Temple Grandin states that normal people are just too abstractified. It has also been observed that she was raised in an era where mildly autistic children were raised to cope with the social beings, but the severely autistic children were simply institutionalized. It has been observed by the personality of Temple Grandin that she does not have any personal life, her mind is equivalent to a 11 years old child, but still she has strong empathy for animals.
