CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY

Introduction

There is no single method that can be adopted for performing the research study and termed as the perfect one. There are flows in every research method. The importance of research methodology cannot be ignored as it is an important part of the research study and undertakes the whole research design on which the study is based (Drew, 2000, Pp. 470).

Mixed Methodology

The present research study is based on the investigation of the role and use of different kinds of assessment used in a Chinese senior school. The research method that has been adopted for this topic is mixed methodology as the data used has qualitative and quantitative nature. There are many reasons for choosing the mixed methodology in this research study. The research methodology is quantitative because it takes into account the graphical analysis of the data regarding the assessment of the Chinese schools. However, the qualitative data has also been used for some chapters of the research study like literature review chapter.

The data for the Chinese senior school assessment has been collected through the interviews of the teachers that were based on the structured and open ended questions. Similarly, the observation of the researcher also played great role in the assessment of the Chinese senior schools (Vogt, 2001, Pp. 143).

Description of the Research

The research study is based on the assessment used in the Chinese senior schools in order to analyze the methods and techniques used by such schools for educating students. The research approach that is used in the present research study includes several steps. The topic of the research study that is investigating the role and use of different kinds of assessment used in the Chinese senior schools has been analysed through the qualitative and the quantitative research studies.
