Discussion

Although, at the individual level, every member of the staff posses immense expertise and knowledge in diverse areas but, still certain issues exists that creates bit of issues and hindrances for companies that affect their performance. There could be several problems organization could face leading to problems.

1.Role conflicts within groups

2.Communication problems among group members

3.Lack of cohesiveness in groups with diverse members

4.Excessive intergroup conflict

Let us first address the issue of role conflicts within groups. Role conflict can arise due to several issues within the group. Clashes of interest, differences in values, actions and views, are few of the elements that result in conflict.

Role conflict within groups as one of the problems refers to a state of unresolved problems between the individuals. One of the major problems that arise due to role conflict is the disagreement among people which results in the imbalance of power in the organization. Role conflict becomes even severe if the conflicting parties are in contact with each other of working in the same department or for the same cause. For example if an employee performs well and he/ she is not acknowledged, he/ she might feel de-motivated. Similarly, sharing of ideas is extremely important not only within departments, but across the organization. For example, if management plans something which is not communicated down the hierarchy, the plan will never be effective because being an organizational member, everyone should be informed.

The third problem that is been identified through research is a lack of cohesiveness in groups with diverse members. Diversity in a group refers to the differences that individuals bring in to the organizations. These differences refer to certain dimensions such as cultural, demographics, psychographics, race, gender and ...
