Introduction

This paper intends to provide a plan for new GPS goods and services locator software application that can provide automatic updates of the required data to the customers. I being the member of the software development team have been asked to develop a plan for software updates and submit it to the development team for implementation. This paper will provide a plan for software update through identifying the major steps involved in the data file update process along with the important steps for scripting. Moreover, the paper will also select an appropriate scripting language for the tasks that can be performed using scripting. The purpose of this paper is to make the reader aware about the significance of process implementation in relation with planning updates for software.

Plan for Software Update

It remains extremely important for the software developers to plan strategically for the purpose of updating software. Moreover, the creation and maintenance of software update packages is not an easy task to conduct. I plan to upgrade my software application that can provide automatic updates of the required data to the customers. I believe the most important elements of any software upgrade remain the security and office.

I believe planning remains extremely important for giving a successful software upgrade. The basic planning starts with the decision of effective and efficient package deployment strategy. This decision is critical because it relates to the time saving factor and the maintenance for the deployment of software package within the enterprise. The most important thing to consider while planning the software upgrade package is that the package needs to be created at the highest level within the hierarchy of all the employees being capable to use the software extensively (Neal, 2001).

Moreover, another important thing to consider is that a single package must contain various software upgrades that can be utilized as and when needed. All these updates remain extremely relevant to the client locales and the various operating systems. Another important thing to plan in relation with the software upgrade is that the employees must be able to modify the existing packages for the purpose of getting advantages from the software updates to all the installed operating systems.
