History of Photography 1839-1900: the rise of Photography

Introduction

The oldest and ever known concept of photography is that it portrays the dream of an individual on the piece of paper which is then reviewed and analyzed by the crowd of people belonging to diversified age knowing nothing about it (Badger, G, 2008)

It was on 19 August 1839 that the concept of photography was first introduced to the whole world by Daguerre in a joint annual meeting of the academy of Science and The Academy of fine arts that was held in Paris (Badger, G, 2008).

In reality Daguerre was the inventor of photography, however the overall history of its development contains phases of success, failure, some missed opportunities and some true and false speculation, as all these stories were not describing the actual facts regarding the photography like medium of photography, environment of that period and about other contributors in the invention of the photography.

Before 1839 the concept of photography was there but at that time its importance and usage was limited to the interest of rulers who used to portray their own pictures by their servants ad hang it on their walls, but after Daguerre introduction of photography this concept become public and the era between 1839-1854 was named as the second invention of photography (Badger, G, 2008)

It was during the summer season of 1839 when Daguerre was busy working secretly with the help of its agent on the production of its camera and with the French firm.

His secret work finally saw the light of the day when it was officially published in September 1839, however speculation regarding his work were circulation from two months back by people who accidently seen the picture. This sensation was praised by several art lovers and commented that in future the world will conquered by photography.

By the year 1940 the photography was introduced with a form of crafting industry and slowly and gradually it started to climb the success by featuring in magazines, newspaper, public events, in its early period both the issues of science and art were portrayed and in the early days in was defined on the basis of art and science in which art would be defined as the medium of expressing your thought using craft, painting and sculpture, where as science was based on the knowledge of scientific subjects.

The invention of this technology does not go down with several authors of that time and they tried every available option to shut down the inventions, but to no avail as the fever of photography were rising at its peak (Badger, G, 2008)

Talbot
