Introduction

The term "psychosis" is used to refer to those disorders characterized by mind, some loss of touch with reality. When someone has this disorder is said to have had a "psychotic episode". Psychosis affects mainly young adults. It is fairly common. Most of those affected get a full recovery of the disorder. Psychosis can affect anyone, and like all disease is amenable to treatment (Kandel, 1998, pp. 457-469).

Discussion

The symptoms

Psychosis usually causes changes in the state of mood and way of thinking, leading to ideas abnormal, making it difficult to understand what affected person is feeling. In order to understand what the psychotic experience is, it is useful to classify groups some of the most characteristic symptoms (Simpatico, 2005, pp. 1319-20).

Confused Thinking

The most common thoughts become confused or fail to keep a proper relationship with each other. The Speaking becomes difficult to understand or does not have sense. In some cases the person concentrates and follow the thread of the conversation or remember things. His thoughts seem accelerated or become slower (Kandel, 1998, pp. 457-469).

False Beliefs

Often the person with an episode has psychotic delusions, known as delusions. So completely convinced of the truth of delirium that no reasoning, however logical that is, it is capable of undeceive. E.g. based on the manner in which the cars parked outside his house, comes to believe that the police are watching (Padula, 2008, pp. 1476-78).

Hallucinations

As a result of psychosis, the person sees, hears, feels, smell or taste things perceived not really are present. For example, hearing voices that no one overhears more see nonexistent objects, or perceived smell or taste of things so that you look like they are spoiled or even poisoned (Simpatico, 2005, pp. 1319-20).

Affective and Perceptual Changes

Sometimes the way you feel the person changes suddenly, for no apparent reason, causing you to feel rare and isolated from the world and if we see things move very slowly. Are common sudden changes in mood and the person feel strangely excited or depressed. Or, emotions seem to fade, feel less than before, or express their emotions less those around you (Stackman, 2011, pp. 1129-30).

Behavior Changes

People suffering from psychosis have behaviors changes. In some cases, become extremely active, or good befalls a great lethargy that makes them be doing nothing all day. They laugh at inopportune times, or get angry or feel thwarted for no apparent reason. Many times, these behavioral changes are associated with symptoms mentioned above. For example, if the person believes is in danger, call the police, or if you believe Jesus Christ, he spends his days preaching in the streets. In other cases, stop eating for fear that the food is poisoned or has trouble sleeping because is afraid of something (Simpatico, 2005, pp. 1319-20).
