In the opening section of the article, the author establishes a connection between psychology and its application to crime. A psychologist uses his interrogative and probing style to understand the complexity of the patient and offers solution to a wide variety of problems that might arise in the future. The same procedure can be used in reverse order to build a character profile of the offender by finding the similarities in the way crimes are committed.
