Assessment 1: An authentic collage of young children's communications

Introduction

This paper briefly explores how the approaches brought by researchers in order to study the written language and young children have changed with the passage of time, and also how within the procedures of important theories got redefined that led to the appearance of literacy during early childhood as a key research focus in the early 20th century. Moreover, it will also look at a group of children between the ages of 2 and 5, who will be the subjects of this study. In addition, it is claimed that the studies concerning young children's literacy is a phenomenon that is quite recent one.

The tale of how literacy in the early childhood came up as a dynamic and distinctive research area is reasonably complex one and for doing complete justification requires additional liberty than the space at hand. In order to limit it in the liberty provided and to keep control of our account, it has been decided that the focus would be limited to a lesser amount of themes, each of which is seen as noteworthy in the coming up of early childhood literacy as now understood. Nevertheless it becomes quite complicated to maintain as one move to the ending of the 20th century and at present it is unavoidable to extensively overlap.

Case Study

Identifying the group of children

The study will consider a group of three children, aged between 2 to 5 years. All the children happen to be my sister's, and I have a good idea as to how they are and the way they are being brought up, which will benefit me through the course of this paper.

Furthermore, the age group which the children belong to is appropriate for this particular study, where an authentic collage of young children's communications shall be discussed.

Parental consent

It is imperative to gain the consent of the parents in order to gather and analyze the communication samples of the children, since it is the parents' right whether they allow access to their offspring, or whether they prevent access to them, since the children are too young to decide for themselves. Thus, it is necessary to seek permission of the parents in this regard.

Parental consent could be sought through the use of parental consent forms, which must be detailed and accurate, and must inform the parents of the nature of documentation required to carry out the assessment, besides getting the form signed by the parents or guardian, where the child is under the protection of a guardian. Without getting the consent letter signed by the children's parents or guardians, the study cannot be carried out.

They belong to a family of five, including their parents. The parents are very much involved in their children's language development skills, and they have seen to it ever ...
