A good way to add wireless connectivity to your project is using the MaxStream XBee modules. 2 Xbee modules provide friendly forms of communication: transparent serial transmission (AT mode) and mode API that provides many advantages. Los XBee modules can be configured from the PC using the X-CTU program or from your microcontroller. The Xbee architectures can communicate point to point, point to multi point or mesh network. Choosing the right XBee module goes through to choose the type of antenna (chip, wire or connector SMA) and the transmit power (2mW to 60mW to 300 feet or up to 1 mile)

XBee modules can be used with our adapters Xbee Explorer Serial or USB XBee Explorer. Those who work with 5V microcontrollers need an interface (Xbee Regulated) to communicate with the XBee modules. Because the modules are spaced Xbee pin 2mm recommend use of our adapter cards. Our cards can connect Xbee modules in any standard breadboard spacing of 0.1 inches. If you communicate an Xbee module with a PC we recommend using the USB adapter that will allow you to easily configure and test your module settings before using the module in a peer to peer network.

XBee modules are cheap, powerful and easy to use. Some main features are:

Good Range: Up to 300ft (100 meters) in line of sight to the Xbee modules and up to 1 mile (1.6 km) to Xbee Pro modules

9 inputs / outputs with analog and digital inputs.

Low power consumption <50mA when in operation and <10uA when in sleep mode.

Serial interface.

65.000 addresses for each of the 16 available channels. You can have many of these devices in a network.

Easy to integrate.

There are two sets of these modules. Series 1 and Series 2 are also known as 2.5. The modules of the Series 1 and Series 2 have the same pin-out, however, are NOT compatible with each other as they use different chipsets and work with different protocols.

Series 1 is based on the Freescale chipset and is designed for use in point-to-point and point to multipoint. The Series 2 modules are based on the Ember chipset and designed for use in applications requiring repeaters or a mesh network. Both modules can be used in modes AT and API.

Rambal Ltd has different transmission systems. In the mid-range transmission distances or ranges we have all the XBee. The distances of these teams are not high but they have other characteristics that may be useful when deciding.

ZIGBEE XBEE

Extend your applications with little development effort to a 2.4 GHz radio (ISM band). With two radio modules XBEE you are able, via a serial interface, a wireless data connection for ZigBee-standard build. The only 25 x 28 (33) x 2 mm large module can be integrated without problems in your circuit layout. The simple design-in to save many times is to improve development time / cost and your time-to-market significantly. There are 2 different versions: 1mW ZigBee module, as well as XBEE than 100 mW PRO modules. The PRO must XBEE in Europe only with max. 10dBm, which is set by using the Power ...
