Keko Moku, a colourful supplement to the bar-saturated Northern Quarter, stands out by virtue of its brilliant and alert atmosphere. There's something endearingly incongruous about a tiki junction in Manchester but Keko Moku (which means Monkey isle) drags it off. How? Well the Hawaiian-shirted bar tenders are amicable and not without ability, the neon and bamboo décor is kitsch without being silly - really they could pay for to push the Pacific topic further - and the location makes a joy alternative to the identikit built-up bars in another place in the neighbourhood.
