Introduction

Class and discrimination according to the existence of difference classes in the society is a very common issue. It has existed since the time people started to group into colonies and societies and it led to the creation of differences between different classes and segments of the society. After some time, classes were further distinguished in societies based on professions, language, color, heritage, wealth and area of residence.

Discussion

Considering the contemporary American societies, the main issues that it faces when it comes to classes is discrimination in the form of language, color and profession. Collectively, the people residing in the USA claim that there is little discrimination in the society and claim about things like equal opportunity for everyone, zero discrimination policies and legal implications on racial discrimination. However, if we take a closer look at society, not by viewing loads of literature but just by focusing on the simple events of everyday life, we will see that discrimination exists at every level and the society is extremely divided by class. For instance, take the example of marriages in the society. When the families of the people getting married get involved in the process, they bring up factors such as social class, financial status and even racial differences. Why should such differences exist when we have all been created equal?

Take another example of a person applying for a job. If it is a labor level job that a person is applying for then it does not matter what class or race you belong to, but as you move up the ladder, such things are experienced during the hiring process and interviews, where the manager makes judgments about the applicant based on this color, cast and background.
