Behavioural Change Theory

Introduction Behavioural change theories or models tend to uncover the reasons associated to the physical behaviour. It tends to gauge the thinking pattern of the individuals which allow them to react in a certain manner. There are various studies, which tend to, relate to the Behavioural changes and the theories associated with it. In the Context of this paper, we will be analyzing one of such theory in relation to Health and Safety performance. Last two decades have seen the rise of behavioural theories relating to Health and safety. With an intention, to unearth, those circumstances or the thinking cycles, which allow him, or her to react against or in favour of public health and safety. All the theories or models, which tend to, fall in the category of Behavioural change tends to have one intrinsic function, and that is to improve the services tends to be offered and highlighting the further advancements which needs to be done in order to cater to the human beings in a much more effective manner (Joanna 2009,p.27).

Among such theories, this paper intends to use theory of planned behaviour which, in fact, is the extension of theory relating to the reasoned action. This theory, however, tends to uncover the principle of intention which forces the individual to act or react in a certain manner along with those factors whom person do not have control upon still tends to be influenced by those factors. This theory also tends to nullify the equation of thought, which persists that human behaviour tends to be crafted in a way according to the principles which he or she is in control of. Since human being, does not enjoy the control over all the factors thus this serves as a threat to Health and Safety of others around.

Theory of Planned Behaviour As highlighted above, in the course of this paper that Theory of Planned Behaviour tends to extract its roots form the theory relating to Reasoned Action.

This theory however will be studied through the perspective of occupational health and safety. Therefore, to understand the theoretical concepts related to Theory of Planned Behaviour it is very important to understand the theory of reasoned action first since the theory of Planned Behaviour tends to extract its root from theory of reasoned action. Theory of Reasoned Action tends, to suggest that the behaviour which an individual portrays is due to his or her intention due to, which he or she reacts in a certain manner (Christopher, & Julie 2003, p.38). However, his or her intention is, in fact, subjective to the action, if this theory tends to be taken as per its spirit. Than a conclusion, can be drawn that in order to predict the behaviour of the individual his or her intention needs to decoded.

However, intention also tends to bas itself on numerous factors; some of those stand to be discussed in the course of this paper. Fore mostly, intention sets itself on the expected or current attitude of an ...
