Being Part of a Team Is More Important Than Leading It

Introduction

Teams are created when individual who share some common characteristics, such as preferences and attitudes, come and work collectively to achieve a common goal. These individuals are the ones in which the leader finds the potential of achieving that set target. The work attitude of the individuals might not be same, but the target for every individual member is common. It is a common fact now, that teamwork is an effective way to increase productivity and to generate the desired outcomes. No matter whether it is a football ground or a workplace or even a community, teamwork can bring incredible results in any field. To establish a team for the achievement of any specific role, two major element required are leader and team members. There must be some individuals who seem potential enough to achieve that set target and a person who would become the leader of that team to provide a direction to the members.

There are some roles and responsibilities defined to the leader, as well as, to the team members. Leader is the one who leads the whole team being on the front end and provides direction to his team which leads to the set target. Whereas, a team member is the person who work on the guidelines provided by his leader and contribute his part in achieving team targets. While working in a team, every member is dependent on the other team members to work together efficiently and contribute their best to the organization. It has been observed that the performance of an individual is far better when he is working in a team, rather than working individually. This difference in performance occurs because an individual can give his best performance in a team as the work load is distributed in the whole team.
