Introduction

Discussion

Throughout history the term quality has undergone many changes that should reflect in its historical evolution. Currently there are a number of business leaders and organizations are increasingly convinced of the advantages resulting work from the perspective of quality, mainly due to three aspects, which include the generating of quality products and enhanced services, aims to lower production costs and a motivating factor and integration of workers (Ficalora & Cohen, 2009, pp 34 - 37). However, the recent concept of quality is related to the 'Quality Function', which aims at developing a product that fully meets the customer requirements.

Quality Function Deployment

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a method to customer needs and customer requirements into specific functions or services of a company to translate a product. The starting point is meeting the customer what he considers valuable and important.

Not always, it must be explicitly specified by the Client wishes to act. What are the demands of today and tomorrow, must be determined and analyzed. Thus, specific customer requirements are supplemented by unconscious customer requirements. This is based on the customer analysis (Clausing & Pugh, 2004, pp 19 - 25).

The Quality Function Deployment Approach

The Quality Function Deployment is categorized by three approaches in its attempt to provide benefits for the organization. From customer and market requirements and performance characteristics are derived in their importance assessed, the assessment is made from a market perspective and from a technical point of view. From the features, the features of a product and its components or elements of services are derived. This can be determined step by step process, even steps, test and production processes.

It becomes clear what features and functions for the customer are very important, and how they redound to the benefit of competition (Akao, 2005, pp 128 - 132).
