Biotechnology Changed the Face of Medicine

Biotechnology Changed The Face Of Medicine

Introduction

Currently, we are constantly fed with the prophecy that biotechnology is the next revolutionary “wave” to replace the information technology that will change the way we lived for the past 50 years. In the past decade, scientists have made significant breakthroughs in this field for the start of the current biotechnological advertising. Scientists from all over the world are desperate for a sub-atomic level, in order to identify other secrets yet unknown men today. This historic success debunked all the previous myths of biology, which has called cloning as anything but fantasy. Now it is possible that we have used cells from an adult organism, to create genetically identical to another organism. Suddenly, it seems science fiction story of human cloning has become a not-too-distant possibility.

Discussion

Biotechnology is the application of industry achievements in the field of methods and tools for research in the biological sciences. The practical use of DNA and genes, called genetic technologies or genetic science is one of the fastest growing areas of research in biotechnology. Growth in biotechnology is, of course, depends on the development of genetic engineering. Scientists have been able to use the fact that DNA is the same and works the same way in all living beings. Genetic engineering involves the transfer of useful 'genes from one species to another to obtain a useful function.

Instead, even better results than achieved by insecticides of biological control through genetic engineering, scientists have developed strains of bacteria, which are currently being used as bio-pesticides (Purohit 2004). Being able to identify people in the small differences in their DNA helped police and scientists to do some detective work. The police can call on forensic experts to prepare a DNA fingerprint of the cells found at the crime scene to help them prove the suspect is innocent or guilty. Not only that, but in fact, scientists have used DNA evidence to trace the spread of people from Africa, where they occurred, around the world. They also used DNA evidence to study ancient human remains including mummies and fossilized animals. Currently, scientists can, with some difficulty that is perfect copies, or clones, mammals such as sheep. Now you can make a herd of identical animals genetically modified to produce drugs. Scientists can even change the defective genes for the benefit of the body. For example, if a person has a gene that codes for a particular disease, scientists can insert healthy copies of the gene to cure the patient. With tissue engineering, familiar problems as rejection of foreign tissue in the body, an acute shortage of donors, as well as the ineffectiveness of artificial devices can be solved. The purpose of tissue engineered growth of tissues and organs that can be used for transplantation.

The application of biotechnology may lead to (a) new ways of manufacturing existing products using new materials, and (b) new ways to manufacture new products. An example of the former include the production of gasoline ...
