Project Introduction

Project Background

The main idea of this project is to turn your cell phone into mouse connected to your desktop or laptop computer via Bluetooth, so it well help you to reduce the number of computer components and free your movement with a wireless connection.

Infra-red is normally used by a remote control of television. But Bluetooth enabled remote control uses Bluetooth. Why? Because many mobile phones today contain Bluetooth and similarly many personal laptop and computer are also coming equipped with Bluetooth [1]. Thus instead of using extra hardware required by infra-red remote control, we can use already available Bluetooth hardware. So this gives us a major advantage i.e. No extra Hardware Cost. Bluetooth Enabled Remote Control is a software program. Part of it resides in a computer and a part in mobile phone. Each Bluetooth hardware requires a program called Bluetooth stack to be installed before use. Different vendors have different Bluetooth stacks and most of the time they are incompatible with each other. We have tried to make Bluetooth enabled Remote Control generic and successfully achieved it.

The integration of new information technologies and telecommunications in the home, have necessitated the development of a standard that facilitates communication between all sorts of devices. One of the major problems is assuming the current technological revolution is the duplication of components, such as display, present in the mobile phone, laptop, the PDA, etc. On the other hand, the disadvantages of cable as physical medium of communication between devices in environments of increased mobility, increased interest in wireless technologies, which have other advantages such as high security, low operating costs, easy and inexpensive installation and maintenance, breakdown of geographical barriers, and so on. Infrared links have become the technology of wireless communication over short distances used in our days, for example, the remote control of most televisions and connecting computers to peripherals via the IrDA standard known (Infrared Data Association). These transmitters, despite its low cost, have several drawbacks, for example, that: the distances are limited to 1 or 2 meters, you need a visual direct link can not transmit voice, and can only be used between two devices . Instead, the radio links offer a much wider range, it may spread through various objects and materials, and can be used to connect multiple devices simultaneously. Bluetooth is a wireless communication standard that will facilitate short distance wireless connections between electronic and computer equipment, eliminating the need for proprietary connectors or cables between various electronic devices, providing greater flexibility and freedom in ...
