Introduction

Booker Taliaferro Washington (1856-1915), African American teacher and racial foremost, based Tuskegee Institute for very dark students. His "Atlanta Compromise" talk made him America's foremost very dark foremost for 20 years.

Growing Up Black

He had renowned only his first title, but when students answered to roll call with two titles, Booker despairingly supplemented a well renowned title, evolving Booker Washington. Learning from his mother that he currently had a last title, he became Booker T. Washington.

Overhearing converse about a very dark school in Hampton, Va., Washington longed to go. Meanwhile, as houseboy for the proprietor of the coal mines and saltworks, he evolved scrupulous work habits. In 1872 he set out for Hampton Institute. When his cash provided out, he worked at strange jobs.
