London Eye

London eye (commonly know as millennium wheel) a 443 ft (135-metre) tall giant Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames, in London, England. It is the most popular tourist attraction and the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. The London Eye is the attraction of payment enjoying increasing popularity in the UK. More than 3.5 million people visit it annually.

The London Eye is breakthrough design and engineering. Passengers in the capsules of the observation wheel can admire the view up to 40 miles away in all directions. The exact location of this wheel is the western end of Jubilee Gardens, on the South Bank of the River Thames in the London Borough of Lambeth, between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. This giant Ferris wheel was designed by Leitner-Poma. The wheel is ovoidal and is rotated by the electric motors. It comprises of 32 capsules, which represents London Burroughs. The capsule can hold around 25 people. It is sealed and fully air-conditioned giving redolent atmosphere. The weight of each wheel is about 10 tons and people can move freely within it. The wheel rotates at 10 inches (26 cm) per second which is about 0.9 km/h or 0.6 mph, therefore, one complete revolution takes about 30 minutes. It does not stop to take passenger in but, the rotation is slow enough to take in all passengers easily at the ground level.
