The British Ariline was first established in the year 1919. During that period that were only small airline organizations that were operating like British Marine Air Navigation, In-stone Airlines, Handley Page Transport and Aircraft Transport Travel. All of these airlines faced tremendous rivalry from the forces from outside. In order to oversome the massive competition, these small airlines were merged together and Britsh Airways was formed. This airline company is a global airline service which offers low fares all year round and wideranging routes. The planes of British Airways fly to and fro from airports which are centrally situated and they offer their flights worldwide. The main effective strategy of the British Airways is that they maintain their organization's image well maintained and stong (David, 2009, pp. 121).

Explain its mission and describe how the mission is translated into practical objectives

The mission of a company allows the company to move towards a certain direction while the vision of the company allows them to think and dream about the future prospects. Mission and vision are the significant part of the internal environment of an organization which shapes up the organization. The vision and mission of the British Airways is simple and slearly defined and provide an accurate direction for the company. The mission statement for the British Airways is “to be the undisputed leader in world travel for the next millennium (Evans, 2008, pp. 14).”

The mission is translated into the practical objectives through adopting the latest developments and technologies so that the British Airways remain up-to-date about the latest technology and trends, so that they can provide the costumers with the best possible service. The mission is translated into the following practical objectives:

Introduction of new technology team

In order to keep the company upo to date, the organization has to adopt the latest technologies. For this purpose, the Birtish Airways have introduced a technology team to ensure that all the employees are updated about the new technology.

Bi-annually strategies review policy

For facing the competition effectively, the British Airways have devised a strategy to review and amend their actions and policies bi-annually. This strategy allows them to be up to date about the latest technology and trends in the industry. This also allows them to keep a crucial eye on the strtegies of their competitors.

Hi quality technology provider

The central strategy of the British Airways is that they maintain a good relation with the suppliers so that they can get high quality tecvnology services and products (Brendan, 2000, 140).
