Introduction

The EU has so far played a very significant role in the global security and the decisions that have been taken by the EU council have been proven to be very favourable for maintaining peace all over the world. The EU has been involved in the crisis management in a number of operations with either financing or providing with a course of action. Until January 2009, it was believed that Europe was somehow not putting in many efforts to fight the global problems of security and have been running away from them. This was all because of a conflict of view between the Europeans and the ex president of America George W, Bush, because of the conflict of views, the Europeans were not putting in much effort as they could and should have. It was president Obama who brought the leaders to one table and solved out the issues and re confined the relationship. President Obama now is much more popular In the Europe as compared to Bush. EU is very important to USA and the entire world to fight the issue global security politics.

Today a number of arguments arise, when the concept of civilian power and the military power in Europe over the past 20 years is discussed. Europe since years have been very much concerned over the normative power as compared to the military power. European union so far has faced a number of challenges that needs to be discussed here before one can jump to a conclusion if Europe is playing a significant role in the global security politics or not. Back in the year of 1991 when the Maastricht treaty was being revised, the area of concern was different from the global crisis and security, but the security and foreign policies were even being discussed. The establishment that would have turned out of this treaty was very much important to the entire world; the big issues that were under the major concern of Europe were much different than that of the rest of the world. Europe's main concern was to develop such policies, so that coordination could be developed among the states of Europe. It is a valid fact that Europe was looking forward to develop and maintain its relationship with the rest of the world, but and so was the world looking for, but Europe was mainly concerned about developing and enhancing relationship between its major countries.
