Cancer and Breast Cancer

Abstract

Cancer was once counted among the second most deadly disease in the United States of America, though it has reduced over a period of time. This paper tends to highlight some of the issues regarding the cancer and the Breast cancer and would attempt o draw out a meaningful conclusion out of it.

Cancer & Breast Cancer

Introduction

Cancer has been the subject of discussion ever since the Medical Science discovered is existence; it is counted among the most feared diseases in the world, even today. Cancer is not a name of one disease rather this term is used to describe the collection of more than hundred diseases. All of these diseases do share a general problem, and that is, the mysterious behavior of the cells. The cells in this context behave strangely and their growth increases to a level beyond the normal conditions. Since their growth witnesses, an abnormal behavior, it tends to hinder the functioning of other body parts. In United Sates of America, cancer is considered the second most lethal disease after heart problems and is ranked second among the diseases which tend to eat out the lives of the Americans (Preventing Cancer, 2002). However, as the medical science has covered a lot of ground, this helped to reduce, the number of deaths by the cancer. Cancer patients now tend to survive in great numbers today as indicated by the statistics that it saw certain decline after the year 1997. In order to tackle, this disease it is essential to study the behavior of the cells so that a better understanding could be developed on the subject.

Behavior of the Cells

Cell tends to serve as the founding stone for the human body; human body initiates its growth on the existence of a single cell. As the time progresses, it tends to multiply its growth and tend to distinguish itself from the other cells. A cell on further stages develops into organs such as heart, brain, lung and various others. The development of cells tends to continue as our life progresses, and the new cells are born to replace the older ones, therefore, we tend to live a healthy life. The cells are genetically coded in a way that it tends to die after its prescribed period as a cell die, the cells around it covers it up until the new cell takes the place of the older cell, this process is known as apoptosis (Michelangelo,2006).

Cells when they are struck with the collection of diseases called 'Cancer' tends to act in a unique manner, which is rather, not known to the normal behavior of the cells. The systematic process of old cells dying out and the new cells taking their place tends to become disorganized and become difficult for the body to control. Under the process of apoptosis new cells tend to replace the old ones at a significant pace, but the cells effected by cancer tends to replace the old ...
