Corporate Social Responsibility of Australian Post

At Australia Post, the regular business transaction that takes place at a rapid pace marks an important contribution towards the environmental sector. The basic task of the organization is delivering the mail to the customers in their large number of outlets which also carries a lot of value in the Australian Community. The company has been providing service to the whole public since the last 200 years and they have never compromised on the essential services they provide to the public. This is the reason why the company gives a lot of value to the important environmental concept known as Corporate Social Responsibility. In 2008-09, Australian Post adopted a proper corporate responsibility (CR) strategy which was created to serve the economic, social and environmental measure throughout the whole country. The major reason because of which this initiative was taken to look after the public in a better way and to ensure good environmental steps implemented in many parts of the country. The company believed it was not only their duty to provide this service to the whole nation but it was done to contribute significantly towards the environmental development which is taking place across the whole world (Crocombe, 2009, 121).

The board of Australia Post adopted the first proper CSR strategy in the month of October 2008. The ambition was to make it recognize as a corporation and to enable the workforce in achieving success with the help of sustainable business practices. The vision of the company was to contribute towards the overall environmental development in the country. The working group that formulated the CSR strategy helped in highlighting some of the major steps that needs to be implemented for helping Australian Post to achieve their goals and objectives. There were seven strategic steps which were prepared by the company that were:

The investment in the communities where the people operate, live and also work very hard to achieve their targets.

The responsibility of providing valuable products and services.

The integration of proper delivery system across the entire supply chain.

The engagement of the workforce for applying effective environmental measures.

The understanding and being receptive to the needs of stakeholder and expectations.

The assurance of effectual governance and reporting of the developments.
